When to give up?

Trying to set up a database server for 5 hours on a Saturday night...
Is it wise, in the first place? And is 5 hours too long to be trying it?
Would it have been better to let go of it and get some help later?

There is only a fine line between perseverance and foolish stubbornness..
But we are human, after all.. and it is so very easy to miss out the difference...
